NEW READING CLUB FORMING for January. The first book we will be studying is entitled The Compass of Zen by the renowned enlightened master Seung Sahn. From the back cover of the book one reads:

"This master is the first Korean Zen Master that taught in the West.  He taught in Korea, Japan, and, starting in the seventies, in Spanish speaking countries, too.  His teachings connect to the authentic great zen Masters and are based on the teachings of the famous Bodhidharma, constituting one of the few examples of a contemporary zen based on a genuine lineage that connects with the best of the classical zen tradition, presenting it in a very accessible style that is useful for our modern day world."
"La Brújula del Zen is presented clearly and naturally, often with great humor, with the essential teachings of the principle buddhist traditions - culminating in zen - presented by one of the most outstanding zen masters of our time.  In his numerous years of teaching throughout the world, Zen Master Seung Sahn has been recognized for his capacity to go to the heart of buddhism in a direct and clear way, the fruit of his enlightened awareness.  This book is based on his public talks where he presents the essential teachings of Buddhism in a rich way that is accessible for both beginners and veteran students."

The weekly study sessions are planned for Thursdays beginning January 10, 2012, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The cost of the study course is by voluntary contribution.  Please contact Rev. Hyonjin to make your reservation and to obtain the materials for the course.  The course will be given in Spanish.  The class will begin with 30 minutes of meditation followed by discussions of the book.    We will meet for eight sessions, following a study guide and questions to be considered in preparation for the class.  To participate in the course, one needs to be able to dedicate about 2-3 hours per week for the reading and preparation of the book for the entire 8 weeks. For more information, please call (33) 1523-7115       or email Rev. Hyonjin at ozmoofoz@gmail.com
